Why Take This Mini Course?

If you’ve been sitting on a folder full of designs but have no idea how to pull it all together into a portfolio… this course is for you.

If you’ve been dreaming of working with your favourite brands, but second-guessing every step (What do I include? Where do I pitch? Am I even ready?)… you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

This mini course is designed to take the guesswork out of creating a portfolio and help you finally feel ready to pitch your work with confidence.

You'll learn how to:

  • Curate and organize your artwork into a professional, client-ready portfolio

  • Understand what art directors and brands actually want to see

  • Avoid common portfolio mistakes that could be holding you back

  • Build your confidence so you're not just hoping to land dream clients—you know exactly how and where to share your portfolio.

You don’t need a perfect body of work or fancy tech skills. You just need a little structure, support, and the right next step—and that’s exactly what this course gives you.

This is for you if

  • A stylized illustration of a light blue flower with three dark blue butterfly-shaped accents near the top.

You’re second guessing what to include in your portfolio.

You’re stuck in analysis paralysis, do I need mockups? What do art directors actually want?

I’ll walk you through exactly what to include so you can stop guessing and start showing your best work strategically.

  • Simplified drawing of a flower with five petals, orange in color, black center, on a plain background.

You feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start.

There’s so much advice out there, and none of it feels clear.

This step-by-step course simplifies the entire process so you can take action without the overwhelm.

  • A pink and black butterfly with broad wings, sitting on or near a pink flower.

You’re dreading tech struggles with creating a digital portfolio.

The thought of figuring out file formats, layout tools, or making something look good digitally makes you want to quit before you start.

You’ll get easy-to-follow templates and tutorials—no tech headaches required.

  • A simple illustration of an orange flower with a dark center, accompanied by a small dark blue butterfly

You have a whole heap of designs that aren’t organized.

It’s all sitting in folders (or your head), but pulling it together into something portfolio worthy feels like climbing a mountain.

By the end of this course, you’ll have a streamlined, professional portfolio that shows off your work clearly and confidently.

  • A stylized pink flower with a black center and black accents

You’re worrying you aren’t “good enough” and don’t feel ready to pitch yet.

You’re watching others land dream gigs and wondering if you’ll ever feel confident enough to put yourself out there.

This course is designed to build your confidence step-by-step—so you can feel proud of your portfolio and ready to send that pitch.

  • A stylized drawing of an orange flower with a black center, a small eye, and a yellow beak, accompanied by a blue butterfly with two wings.

You’ve been waiting for everything to feel “ready” before you put yourself out there.

You keep tweaking, refining, and holding back, hoping the perfect moment (or perfect portfolio) will magically appear.

This course gives you the tools and support to take action now, so you can stop waiting and start making real progress toward landing your dream clients.

Meet your teacher

Hey, I’m Ashleigh Fish, artist, surface pattern designer, educator, and your biggest cheerleader.

I originally studied education at university with plans to become a teacher, but after graduating, life took me on a different (and beautiful) path. Travel, motherhood, and a creative spark led me to discover my true passion: surface pattern design.

Over the years, I’ve had the joy of collaborating with brands like RJR Fabrics, Alice & Ames, Sand + Fog, Hawthorne Supply Co., and Loomwell, bringing my hand-painted patterns to life on everything from fabric to clothing and home goods.

Now, I’m here to help you do the same.

Inside this mini course, I’m sharing everything I’ve learned about building a portfolio that not only reflects your unique style, but actually gets you noticed by the clients you want to work with. My goal is to make the process feel simple, encouraging, and doable, so you can take confident steps toward your dream collaborations.

Let’s build something beautiful together.
