Pinterest for Designers: My Creativity That Pays Session

I'm Speaking at the Creativity That Pays Summit

I am teaching the talk I most wish someone had given me when I started, and it is happening very soon.

From July 7 to 9, I am one of the speakers at the Creativity That Pays Summit, and my session is all about using Pinterest to market your art as a surface pattern designer. If you have ever felt like you are making beautiful work that nobody is seeing, this is the part of the puzzle I want to hand you.

Here is what the summit is, what I will be covering, and how to come along.

What is the Creativity That Pays Summit?

The Creativity That Pays Summit is a free online event run by Julie and Clàudia, bringing together a range of speakers over three days to help creators build and grow profitable creative businesses.

It runs from July 7 to 9, and it gathers teachers across different corners of the creative world, with practical, follow-along sessions rather than just pep talks. You get to learn from a whole lineup of speakers, pick the sessions that fit where you are, and walk away with things you can actually put into practice.

It is the kind of event I would have loved when I was starting out, frantically Googling at night and never finding clear answers. Three focused days of people who have done the thing, showing you how.

What will I be teaching?

My session is on using Pinterest to market your art for licensing, the exact approach that took me from randomly pinning with no strategy to having licensing enquiries find me.

This is close to my heart, because Pinterest is genuinely what changed things for me. Before I used it properly, I was posting occasionally and hoping. After I built a real strategy, my pins started showing up in search, and contacts began finding me directly rather than me chasing them.

In the session I will be walking through how Pinterest actually works for surface designers, why it is so different from Instagram, and how to get your designs in front of the art directors and buyers who are already searching. It pairs perfectly with everything I teach, because knowing how to get seen is the gap most talented designers are stuck in.

Who is the summit for?

It is for creators who want to treat their art like a business, including surface pattern designers who can make beautiful work but are not yet seeing it turn into income or opportunities.

If you have folders full of designs you are proud of, but you are not sure how to get them in front of the right people, you are exactly who this is for. You do not need to be further along than you are. You just need to be ready to swap "making and hoping" for an actual strategy.

And if Pinterest is the piece you have been avoiding because it feels old-fashioned or technical, my session is a gentle, practical place to start.
