Spoonflower shop templates

Quick heads up for anyone with a Spoonflower shop, before things change next month. If that is not you, feel free to skip this one and I will see you next week.
Spoonflower is rolling out a new shop template for artists, and updating to it is going to be required if you want to keep selling. Nothing to panic about, it is really just a bit of admin, but it does have a deadline, so I wanted to make sure it was on your radar before October.
What is changing?
Spoonflower is introducing a new template for artist shops. Every artist who wants to keep selling will need to update their shop to the new template. This is part of a wider tidy-up they have been doing this year, alongside their new artist application process.
What do you need to do, and by when?
The new template will appear in your Spoonflower account in the first week of October. From the moment it shows up, you have 30 days to update your shop. That puts the deadline at around early November, though the clock starts when the template lands in your account, so keep an eye out for it.
Spoonflower has said they will send a second email once the template is live, with proper step-by-step instructions. When that arrives, set aside a little bit of time to make your updates. That is really all there is to it.
What happens if you miss the deadline?
This is the part worth taking seriously. If your shop is not updated within the 30 days, Spoonflower will delist it. Your account will still exist, but you will no longer be verified to sell, and all of your designs will be set to private. To start selling again after that, you would need to re-apply through their artist application process. So it is worth putting a reminder in your calendar now.
One thing that might confuse you
Your shop will not visibly change the moment you update it. Spoonflower is releasing everyone's new shops together in November. So if you make your changes and nothing looks different straight away, that is completely normal, not a mistake on your end. New artist applications are also paused while all of this happens.
Do not forget the tax form
While they have your attention, Spoonflower is also now asking for updated tax forms from artists every year. If you have not submitted a new one on or after 1 July 2026, you will need to upload one to your account by the end of the year. It is a quick job, and easy to forget, so worth doing at the same time.
What to do right now
Nothing urgent today. Just watch for the new template to appear in early October, then update your shop within the 30 days once it does.
